One year ago, on August 2, 2009, our lives were forever changed and blessed! Our precious daughter, Sophia Su Ruth was "born" into our lives, outside a hot conference room in a hotel in Nanchang, Ch*na! One minute we sat, hot, hungry, nervous, excited, overwhelmed, listening to our guide teach us how to mix formula and rice ceral for our baby to be, and the next minute we are literally handed this baby girl, our girl, this gift from God that He indeed promised us and delivered to us! I will NEVER forget that moment, turning the corner and coming face to face w/this baby girl I had dreamed of all my life really.
We were so prepared for anything really, for her to be scared, overwhelmed, sick, dirty, you name it...but she far exceeded anything we could have hoped or prayed for, she was happy, content, healthy, smelled so clean like baby lotion, and it was as if she already knew us...her forever family...As her nanny placed her in my arms, she immediatly stared up into my eyes and broke out her beautiful smile...my heart melted...it was love at first site...the love and bond I have for this child is so overwhelming...as is any love a parent has for a child, there is nothing else as magical! And as we took her up to our room, she proceeded to instantly bond w/all of us really! Especially Charlie...she adored him that first day, and has grown in one year into his biggest fan!
One year later...I really can't wrap my mind around how fast it has gone, and how much she has grown, or the love that runs so deep in my soul for her.
We were very lucky to be in the presence of some of my family on Sophie's first Gotcha day! Our cousins all live so far away, so we never get to spend any birthdays together, so it was such a treat to happen to be on a mini vacation w/my oldest brother and his family, and Poppie and Grandy on this most special day!
We celebrated our Sophie Su, with Chinese Food, cake, cookies, balloons, some small treats and lite a candle in dedication to the man and woman in Ch*na that gave life to this precious girl so we could be born our daughter!
Happy Gotcha Day to all my travel families and their sweet precious girls!
